About me

My experience

I have more than 20 years’ experience in the translation industry. After studying languages at university, I lived and worked as a translator and bilingual administrator in Austria, the Netherlands and South Africa. I have been freelancing since 1990.

As well as translating, I teach postgraduate German to English translation at the University of Westminster and I am the coordinator of the ITI’s annual Orientation Course for newcomers to the translation profession.
Qualifications

I have a BA (Hons) in German and Russian from the University of Bradford, at the time one of the UK’s leading universities for translation and interpreting.

I am a full member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting and the Chartered Institute of Linguists.

I also belong to SENSE, the Society of English Native Speaker Editors in the Netherlands, and EASE, the European Association of Science Editors.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

I am committed to keeping my subject knowledge and language skills up to date. I regularly attend conferences, workshops and meetings both within and outside the translation business and visit my source language countries whenever I can.
